If you prefer to stay militaristic, changing combat tactics to include “Take Trophies” and “Science from Scrap” will add post-battle science upgrades. Behemoth tech is only unlocked after a quest involving curiosity research, so the science-based “Star Boogie Bill” law is still crucial to early game progression if you want to get ahead of other factions – and in a Unending In the game, moving forward is paramount if you want to survive the whole game. Off-World Agribusiness is the first tech needed for a quest, but for those who want to call on Hissho’s Warmonger, you’ll still need to unlock the Battleships, which are in the second tier of Empire Management tech. While the Hissho prefer militarist mentalities, a Hissho campaign benefits from the start of a scientific methodology to accelerate access to the technology they will need to conquer.

They start with a Behemoth, one of the new ships in the DLC, and produce their unique currency, Keii, whenever they participate in a battle.
The Hissho’s bloody past is also reflected in their style of play – although they are flexible compared to other factions, they much prefer militaristic or religious parties. There does not seem to be a species in the endless galaxy that does not have been affected by the Endless, and none as much as the Hissho, created for the bloody sport of gladiators and back from Endless space via the Supremacy DLC.
It’s not strictly necessary to play the entire library, but it deepens the understanding of the story and just how questionable the Endless’s actions were. Amplitude Studios’ Unending the franchise is steeped in lore that spans multiple games.
